What Is the Energy of Any Word or Phrase?

This calculation converts every letter of a word or phrase to its numerical value and reduces the total to a single digit, preserving master numbers. Spaces and punctuation are ignored, so a phrase is summed as one continuous string and returns one number rather than several. This is the oldest use of the system: the Pythagoreans treated letters as quantities, which is why a mantra, a brand name, or a title can be read this way at all.

How it works
How to calculate your Word Energy number
Write the word
Any word or short phrase.
Give each letter its value
Each letter carries its Pythagorean value: A through I count 1 through 9, J through R count 1 through 9 again, and S through Z count 1 through 8. Accented letters count as their base letter.
Add and reduce
Add every letter as one sum and reduce the total. Reduction stops at the four master numbers, 11, 22, 33 and 44, which are never reduced further.
